InDesign Dynamic Spelling

lInDesign CS2 Dynamic Spelling

A great new feature of InDesign CS2 is not even turned on by default!
In the Preferences, under the Spelling category, choose Enable Dynamic Spelling.

This will underline words that the spelling checker would have picked up. It provides a quick way to scan your document for errors particularly if you have a lot of names or words that the spell checker would normally stop for. Also you can correct your spelling as you type.

If you see an underlined word that is spelt incorrectly you can right-click the word (or Control-click on Mac) and a list of suggestions will pop-up.

A Word of Warning: When you are using the Preview screen mode (which hides the pasteboard and frames etc), the underlined words will only show in the paragraph that you are currently typing in. As soon as you deselect the text frame all the underlines will be hidden. This can easily mislead you into thinking that there are no errors.

Printing on a budget

Did you know one-colour printing costs less than colour? But that doesn't mean that the one colour has to be black or the paper has to be white. Create a 'colour printing' effect by choosing something different. Add texture to the colour scheme by using just a tint of that one colour. Even when printing in black, grey adds interest more interest.
